Cannabis Tea: 3 Delicious Recipes to Make It Tasty

Ready To Try Cannabis Tea? Here's What You Need To Know To Get The Most From This Natural Remedy:

Cannabis tea is a tasty, relaxing way to reap the benefits of marijuana without the effects of smoking or vaping. You can make it as strong or mild as you like depending on your own tolerance level—and whether you want to be mellow or snooze.

Cannabis tea is made by steeping ground marijuana buds, leaves, or stems in hot water for several minutes. The tea can be sweetened with honey, sugar, agave nectar, or other natural sweeteners.

You can also add milk (dairy or nondairy), cream, or butter to increase the potency of your tea. Adding cannabis-infused coconut oil is another option for boosting THC levels and adding extra flavor.

The dosage of cannabis in a single cup of tea varies depending on the potency of the weed used and how much is added to the water. Tea made from marijuana buds will be stronger than tea made from leaves.

To get started making your own cannabis-infused beverage at home… First, it’s crucial to note that there’s no perfect way to make a cup of cannabis tea, just like with cannabis coffee. There are many ways to get to the same place: a delicious herbal medical marijuana tea. Some tips to achieve better results with your tea:

  • Decarboxylate the leaves, stems and flowers of your cannabis first

  • Put in the preparation a source of fat necessary for preparing your delicious drink.

First Step: Decarboxylate Your Cannabis

You want to be sure that you first decarboxylate your bloom whether you make stem tea or cannabis tisan (herbal tea) as described below. Before preparing dried floral buds or stems of the cannabis plant, the easy process of cannabis decarboxylation is necessary to reap the benefits of activated CBD or THC.

It’s unlikely that you will experience strong poisoning effects of THC to prepare your tea simply by pouring warm water over dried or raw cannabis bud. This is because raw cannabis doesn’t contain high levels of CBD or THC, but rather contains so-called cannabinoid acids.

The potential health benefits of cannabinoid acids, called CBDA and THCA, are not poisoned (i.e. you will not get high). You can avoid the decarboxylation process if you are looking for the health benefits of CBDA and THCA. Depending on what you want your cannabis tea to be, this can be a good or a bad thing. If you want CBD or THC into your tea, you should first decarboxylate to have the poisoning effects.

The method of decarb is simple: the palm, leaves, or stems are baked in an oven at 240°F for a 40 minutes THCA transformation and the CBDA conversion at 240°F is baked at 240°F for 80 minutes.

If you are brand new to the decarboxylation process, do not be afraid, I have a complete guide to decarboxylation that will guide you step by step.

Add Fat to Your Mix

Maybe you think – what? Fill my tea with fat? Why does it happen? Making cannabis tea sounds as simple as pouring hot water over cannabis leaves or buds to let them steep, but that is not the safest way of getting a full range of compounds into your body from the plant.

Lipophilia is attracting fatty molecules from cannabinoids like THC and CBD. They are not water-soluble, so they won’t dissolve alone in the water. The cannabinoid absorption is increased by 2.5 times to 3 times, compared with fat-free formulations, according to scientific studies (1).

This makes it 2.5-3 times better than opting to spring from a fat source when applying a fat source to your Cannabis tea. Adding a fat source is essential for those finding the intoxicating and medicinal benefits of THC.

You can add a fat supply to your tea in several different ways, without affecting its flavor and taste. Many of these methods we include in our 9 different ways of making cannabis tea below.

Fat introduction to tea requires additional ways:

  • Fill the fat milk with a splash.
  • Add a drop of milk
  • Add a splash of coconut milk/cream

How much cannabis or how many grams of stems to make tea?

As people, we all have our unique system of endocannabinoids, which explains why we all respond so differently to cannabis foods. There are so many variables that influence your final product dosage, I can’t provide exact measurements on how your cannabis tea can be produced.

This involves the method you choose for infusion, whether you started with the CBD or THC herb, how much and the strength of the substance you started with, whether you did it.

As always, our suggestion is to go low and slow. Start with a 1/2 teaspoon if your choice is made and work out.

Remarks:

It is essential to be mindful of the amount of marijuana you add to your tea because it can have significant health effects, or have no impact at all, at very low or very high levels. Your cannabis must also undergo the decarboxylation process to ensure that THCA is converted into THC (non-intoxicating compound). The process of decarboxylation takes place naturally when cannabis is cooked in the case of food with butter or oils. You may also add hash or chef for the same recipe.

FAQ

Hemp tea has long been known as an effective remedy for insomnia, headache, nervous breakdowns and stress. Besides its healing properties, this drink has a lot of other advantages over regular tea – it is rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids. This is a real boon for those who are on a diet or simply want to eat well and tasty.

What are the benefits of hemp tea?

  1. Helps to cope with insomnia
  2. Improves blood circulation
  3. Relieves headaches
  4. Has antioxidant properties
  5. Neutralizes free radicals
  6. Cleanses the body of toxins
  7. Normalizes metabolism
  8. Heals wounds
  9. Activates brain activity
  10. Relieves inflammation
  11. Strengthens immunity

The effects of cannabis tea usually take 30-60 minutes to kick in, but it can take up to two hours if your metabolism is slow or you have a full stomach while drinking it. You should start with small doses (around 2.5 mg) and wait at least 90 minutes before consuming more to avoid overdoing it.

The answer is, yes — you can use concentrates in tea. The question is, should you? That’s where things get a little tricky.

If you’re going to be adding your wax into the hot water and tea leaves, I would recommend not using a concentrate with any sort of solvents like butane. This can cause a few problems.

First and it’s just plain unsafe to be ingesting butane. Though most of the butane would have been removed during the extraction process, there’s no way to know how much (if any) is left behind. If you have an extract that was made without solvents and doesn’t say so on the label, it’s likely safer to use in your tea.

Another thing to consider is the flavor of your concentrate and how it will blend with your tea leaves, which is another good reason to avoid using butane extracts. When you add a solvent-based extract into your hot water, it will evaporate off and leave behind a strong chemical flavor that may clash with or overpower your tea leaves.

If you want to add some of your favorite flavors into your cup of tea, I’d recommend waiting until after you’ve steeped your tea leaves and poured out your cup.

The benefits of marijuana tea are like those one can get from smoking or eating it:

  1. Cures Insomnia
  2. Aids Digestion And Detoxifies Your Body
  3. It helps control epileptic seizures.
  4. It reduces anxiety, slowing down the aging process, and even reduces the risk of cancer spreading.
  5. It relieves pain and shrinks tumors for those suffering from cancer.
  6. It is an effective treatment against Glaucoma disease which causes high pressure in eyes and, over time, leads to blindness.
  7. The tea can help calm patients suffering from multiple sclerosis by reducing tremors and stiffness of muscles.
  8. Nausea relief
  9. Relief inflammation

Side Effects of Marijuana Tea

It is important to note that marijuana tea has several side effects. Some side effects are mild and do not pose a problem, while others can be more serious. A few common side effects include:

  • Dry mouth – the active ingredients in marijuana can cause you to have a dry mouth (also known as “cotton mouth”). This effect is actually quite common among those who smoke or ingest marijuana. To prevent cotton mouth, it is best to drink plenty of water with your tea or after drinking the tea.

  • Drowsiness – marijuana tea can cause drowsiness. Those who wish to drive or operate machinery should wait until they are sure they are no longer feeling drowsy before doing so.

  • Paranoia – sometimes, marijuana tea has caused paranoia and anxiety attacks. This side effect is most common among those who are new to ingesting marijuana. Usually the paranoia subsides after a short time and gradually goes away with repeated use.

  • Increase in heart rate – most times, individuals who ingest marijuana experience an increase in heart rate. If you already suffer from heart problems, it is best to speak with your physician before ingesting marijuana or any product containing THC.

A Word Of Caution

It’s important to check the laws and guidelines of your State for the same when you use any CBD or hemp items. CBD products derived from Hemp are federally illegal in the USA but are always legal in many countries. If you are traveling, please ensure that you respect CBD consumption and usage laws in that city/state. Recall that most CBD products do not have FDA approval because they can be marketed illicit or with inaccurate labeling. Be alert before consuming about the side effects of CBD, including nausea, dizziness, and dry mouth. Be mindful that if you take blood-thinning medications, there could be significant reactions with drugs.
