How to Make a Tasty Cannabis Herbal Tea

Uncover what to make a tasty Cannabis Herbal Tea (Tisane) for a truly calming, medicated experience with your favorite cannabis flowers, herbs, and spices, along with 8 other cannabis tea infusion options.

Before making tea with cannabis…

First, it is critical to note that there is no perfect way to make a cup of cannabis tea, just like with cannabis coffee. There are plenty of ways to get to the same place: a delicious herbal infused medicinal marijuana tea.

  • We suggest to you to obtain the best results for your tea:
  • Decarboxylate first the flora or stems of your cannabis
  • Put in the preparation a fat source

Have your cannabis decarboxylated

You want to be sure that you first decarboxylate your bloom whether you make stem tea or cannabis tisan (herbal tea) as described below. Before preparing dried floral buds or stems of the cannabis plant, the easy process of cannabis decarboxylation is necessary to reap the benefits of activated CBD or THC.

It’s unlikely that you will experience strong poisoning effects of THC to prepare your tea simply by pouring warm water over dried or raw cannabis bud. This is because raw cannabis doesn’t contain high levels of CBD or THC, but rather contains so-called cannabinoid acids.

The potential health benefits of cannabinoid acids, called CBDA and THCA, are not poisoned (i.e. you will not get high). You can avoid the decarboxylation process if you are looking for the health benefits of CBDA and THCA. Depending on what you want your cannabis tea to be, this can be a good or a bad thing. If you want CBD or THC into your tea, you should first decarboxylate to have the poisoning effects.

The method of decarb is simple: the palm, leaves, or stems are baked in an oven at 240°F for a 40 minutes THCA transformation and the CBDA conversion at 240°F is baked at 240°F for 80 minutes.

If you are brand new to the decarboxylation process, do not be afraid, I have a complete guide to decarboxylation that will guide you step by step.

Add fat to your Tea

Maybe you think – what? Fill my tea with fat? Why does it happen? Making cannabis tea sounds as simple as pouring hot water over cannabis leaves or buds to let them steep, but that is not the safest way of getting a full range of compounds into your body from the plant.

Lipophilia is attracting fatty molecules from cannabinoids like THC and CBD. They are not water-soluble, so they won’t dissolve alone in the water. The cannabinoid absorption is increased by 2.5 times to 3 times, compared with fat-free formulations, according to scientific studies (1).

This makes it 2.5-3 times better than opting to spring from a fat source when applying a fat source to your Cannabis tea. Adding a fat source is essential for those finding the intoxicating and medicinal benefits of THC.

You can add a fat supply to your tea in several different ways, without affecting its flavor and taste. Many of these methods we include in our 9 different ways of making cannabis tea below.

Fat introduction to tea requires additional ways:

Fill the fat milk with a splash.

Add a drop of milk

Add a splash of coconut milk/cream

How much cannabis?

As people, we all have our unique system of endocannabinoids, which explains why we all respond so differently to cannabis foods. There are so many variables that influence your final product dosage, I can’t provide exact measurements on how your cannabis tea can be produced.

This involves the method you choose for infusion, whether you started with the CBD or THC herb, how much and the strength of the substance you started with, whether you did it.

As always, our suggestion is to go low and slow. Start with a 1/2 teaspoon if your choice is made and work out.

Weed Bud Tisane (Medium Strength)

  • 1/2 gram marijuana buds/flowers
  • 1/2 tsp butter
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp honey/sugar (if desired)

Weed Leaf/Stem Tisane (Mild)

  • 2-gram marijuana stems/leaves
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp honey/sugar (if desired)
  • 1 cup half & half

Marijuana-infused Tea (Chai)

  • 2 bags Assamica black tea
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup milk any fatty milk or half and half
  • 2 tbsp cannabis oil or tincture
  • 2 saffron rock candy sticks for flavor

Weed Bud Tisane (Medium Strength)

  • Grind the marijuana buds into fine pieces. Then add the ground buds to 1/2 a tsp of butter and mix it well in a bowl.
  • Continue to stir the butter and marijuana together, until you see all of the marijuana coated with a thin layer of butter.
  • In a medium pot, bring some water to a simmer and gently spoon in the marijuana butter mixture. Scrape the sides of the butter/bud bowl to get all the ground pieces of marijuana.
  • Keep the water to a simmer and stir the mixture gently for about 30 minutes while the tea brews.
  • Strain the mixture after allowing it to cool for a few minutes. Add honey or sugar for taste, and enjoy the infusion!

Weed Leaf/Stem Tisane (Mild)

  • Grind the weed stems in a grinder to extract more THC from them. For the uninitiated, THC is the chemical compound present in marijuana, which enables it to lower anxiety and relax the body and mind.
  • Add water to a pot and bring it to a boil. Now, add weed stems and a half and a half in the pot. Keep stirring for almost 5-7 minutes.
  • Next, strain the resulting mixture into a teacup. Add honey or sugar, if needed, and enjoy the soothing concoction of mild marijuana tea!

Marijuana-infused tea (Chai)

  • Boil the water in a pan and pour it into two separate cups. Put one tea bag in each cup and let it steep for two to three minutes.
  • In another cup, take the milk and add cannabis oil or tincture to it.
  • Now, remove the tea bags from the water infusion and then add the cannabis-infused milk in both cups evenly.
  • Your cannabis tea is ready to be served now. Add the saffron stick to your tea for a sweeter flavor and enjoy it!

It is essential to be mindful of the amount of marijuana you add to your tea because it can have significant health effects, or have no impact at all, at very low or very high levels. Your cannabis must also undergo the decarboxylation process to ensure that THCA is converted into THC (non-intoxicating compound). The process of decarboxylation takes place naturally when cannabis is cooked in the case of food with butter or oils. You may also add hash or chef for the same recipe.

A word of Caution

It’s important to check the laws and guidelines of your State for the same when you use any CBD or hemp items. CBD products derived from Hemp are federally illegal in the USA but are always legal in many countries. If you are traveling, please ensure that you respect CBD consumption and usage laws in that city/state. Recall that most CBD products do not have FDA approval because they can be marketed illicit or with inaccurate labeling. Be alert before consuming about the side effects of CBD, including nausea, dizziness, and dry mouth. Be mindful that if you take blood-thinning medications, there could be significant reactions with drugs.
