Cbga & Cbda Could Prevent Covid Infection Better Than Antibiotics

Cannabis compounds have a high potential as new drug candidates of antibiotics, even for some of the pathogens on the WHO’s current priority list. Cannabinoids Cbga and Cbda emerge to have solid structures with the target protein of the SARS-CoV-2 Mproenzyme, which plays a vital role in viral replication of DNA, according to recent research.

Researchers recently discovered that combining two cannabis metabolites (cannabinol and cannabigerol) provides a more potent weapon against bacterial infections than antibiotics. The two substances have been shown to have antiviral and antimicrobial properties, making them an excellent contender for disease prevention and treatment.

Furthermore, the Oregon State University’s team of researchers has published a comprehensive study in the Journal of Natural Products that suggests two cannabinoid acids, namely cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), would bind Spike protein of the new coronavirus and, in doing so, also prevent it from penetrating cells and causing infections.

They are found to suppress viral entry and activation in the host cellular system by inhibiting the activity of the ACE2 receptor and TMPRSS2 enzymes. Cannabinoids’ therapeutic potential as anti-inflammatory compounds is theorized for the treatment of COVID-19. However, there is more Systemic studies are necessary to confirm the best efficacy and toxic effects, which will be preceded by large-scale preclinical trials.

What Are the Potential of Cbga & Cbda Compounds against Covid?

Richard Van Breemen, a researcher at Oregon State University’s Global Hemp Innovation Center, College of Pharmacy, and Linus Pauling Institute, wrote his first book in the Journal of Natural Products. Van Breemen said that these cannabinoids “are bioavailable orally and with a protracted history of safe human use, isolated or in hemp extracts, have the potential to stop and treat the COVID infection.” He specifies these acids are not psychoactive components like THC and can be found in the most common hemp extracts on the market.

In addition, Van Breemen himself acknowledged that both CBDA and CBGA curbed the action of emerging variants of the virus that causes Covid-19. He commented that their research proved that hemp compounds were equally effective against SARS-CoV-2 variants, including variant B.1.1.7, which was first detected within the UK, and variant B.1.351, first detected in South Africa.

The alpha and beta variants are other identifiers for these two variants.

Scientists Shed New Light On The Nature Of SARS Virus And CBGA's Antiviral Properties

As per Van Breemen, SARS-CoV-2 has Plasmid fibers that decode four major infrastructure enzymes – sharp rise, envelope, epidermis, and DNA template – as well as 16 nonstructural enzymes and several other “accompanying,” nutrients. “A unique feature of infection and replicate components may be a valid contender for antiretroviral treatment,” he says, contributing that “the correlation of the status sphere of the increase molecule to the genetic surface protein ACE2 may be a crucial part of the process.” “It also means cell access blockers, like hemp acids, are wont to not only prevent SARS-CoV-2 infectionbut also to significantly shorten bacterial infection by discouraging pathogens from infecting human cells,” he shows.

“We distinguished many cannabinoid ligands and classified them based on their similarity to the spike protein,” Van Breemen explained. He added that CBDA and CBGA, the 2 existing substances with the highest propensity for the sudden increase in nutrients, had been shown to inhibit inflammation.. “The dispersion of variants is one of the major factors in the pandemic, and B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 are among the most pervasive and distressing.” “The above variants are well-known for dodging immune cells against untimely lineage SARS-CoV-2 and are only effective if emerging immunization schemes rely on the protein’s earlier release lineage to rise as a bacterium,” Van Bremmen says.

How Cbga & Cbda can interact with the Covid-19 infection?

Van Breemen and colleagues, including scientists from Oregon Health & Science University, discovered that a pair of cannabinoid acids bind to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, preventing the virus from infecting people.

Cannabigerolic acid, or CBG-A, and cannabidiolic acid, or CBDA, are the compounds, and the spike protein is the same drug target used in COVID-19 vaccines and antibody therapy. A drug target is any molecule that is critical to the process that disease follows, which means that disrupting it can prevent infection or disease progression. Van Breemen stated that while resistant variants could still emerge due to the massive use of cannabinoids, the integration of vaccination and CBDA/CBG-A treatment should create a much more difficult environment for SARS-CoV-2.

He explained how previous research mentioned the discovery of another compound, one derived from licorice, that also binds to the spike protein. That substance, Licochalcone A, is not examined enough for a task against a flu virus, and new funding is required to do that.

OHSU researchers Timothy Bates, Jules Weinstein, Hans Leier, Scotland Farley, and Fikadu Tafesse also contributed to the cannabinoid research. This means, he argued, that cell entry inhibitors, such as hemp acids, could prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection and also reduce infections by preventing virus particles from infecting human cells.

For the scholars engaged in this research work, although further investigation is needed, this study would show that cannabinoids could be transformed into drugs to prevent or treat Covid-19.

CBGA research

What is CBGA (Cannabigerolic acid)?

CBG-A is the raw or acidic form of cannabigerolic acid (CBG). Cannabinoids exist in a raw form before decarboxylation when they are exposed to heat and converted into an activated form.

CBG-A is a precursor to the main cannabinoids in cannabis. It can be understood as a fundamental molecule because it is the first cannabinoid formed in the plant after it sprouts from the seed. Once other raw cannabinoids, such as THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid), CBDA (cannabidiolic acid), and CBCA (cannabichromenic acid) are formed, CBG-A levels will decrease rapidly in the plant.

To get high yields of CBG-A, cannabis must be harvested in its earlier vegetative stage. That means sacrificing THC and CBD levels, but researchers recently uncovered a way to synthesize CBG-A from yeast.

Is CBGA Safe to Use?

CBG-A is most commonly generated for consumer use as an oil. CBGa benefits can be obtained by using pure CBG oil. CBG oils, on the other hand, are scarce and expensive.

The real kicker is that you can reap some of CBG’s benefits by using wider CBD oils. Expansive CBD oils contain all of the cannabinoids found in cannabis plants, including CBG, but not THC.

When cannabinoids are used together, they can boost each other’s potency through a condition known as the entourage effect.

Is CBGA Legal?

CBG-A and CBN have not prohibited drugs under the CSA or the United Nations Single Conference. However, if CBG or CBN are obtained from marijuana, they, like CBD, fall under Schedule I of the CSA. Whereas if cannabinoid is generated from growing hemp that has been properly sourced, it should be exempt from the CSA. CBG-A can be extracted from hemp, but because CBN is a degraded product of THC, it is not premium to elicit CBN from hemp.

Because CBN is an eroded product of THC, some critics have questioned whether it may be regarded as an illegal controlled substance under the Federal Analog Act, which allows any chemical “markedly common” to a controlled substance in Schedule I to be treated as if it were listed in Schedule I. However, this hypothesis is still not assessed in any published litigation or in trial.

Under food and drug laws, the assessment for CBG and CBN is comparable. To begin, it should be noted that the FDA has never explicitly approved the use of any cannabinoid in dietary sources. CBG and CBN, however, fall into a compliance gray area that offers great promise protections not available to CBD.

In the case of CBD, the FDA has largely focused on its narcotic exemption law. CBD products are known drugs and require FDA approval under the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act because the FDA previously authorized the investigation of CBD as a new drug, for which significant therapeutic research had already been conducted and publicly disclosed. The cost of the new drug approval process is exorbitant. The Journal of Health Economics estimated in 2016 that the average cost per approved drug was well over $1 billion.

The narcotic impermissibility rule should not apply to CBG or CBN at this time because no major clinical research has been undertaken and published.

CBGA Structure

CBG-A is a cannabigerol-based complex molecule that has been studied for its potential use in treating multiple medical conditions.

It’s the molecule that is attached to geranyl groups found in olivetolic acid. CBG-A is a complex compound made up of dihydrobenzoic acid (a form of benzoic acid), a diterpenoid (a compound similar to cholesterol), and a polyketide (the class of compounds that includes the antibiotic erythromycin). The compound is olivetolic acid with a geranyl group attached to the carbon.

CBGA Biosynthesis

If you’re familiar with cannabis, you’ve likely heard of THC and CBD. Both are derived from the precursor cannabinoid, CBG-A.

CBG-A is considered the precursor of all cannabinoids because, without it, CBD, CBDA, or THC can not exist. Enzymes, through syntheses, convert CBG-A into molecules such as THCA, which convert to THC after heat is applied.

What Are the Functions of CBGA?

CBG-A has diverse functions, for plant growth and for medical purposes. It is produced in the trichomes of the cannabis plant and aids in cell death, which results in a pruning function. The shedding of unnecessary leaves allows the plant to put more energy into its buds and resinous trichomes which hold high concentrations of cannabinoids.

Until recently, most CBG-Research has focused on converting it into THC, but studies on CBG-A are coming into their own and attracting interest from scientists unpacking its medicinal applications.

Medical Benefits Of CBGA

Cannabigerol (CBGA) was first discovered by Israeli researchers back in 1975 but has only recently been studied for its medical uses. In fact, CBG-A was only recently approved by the FDA as an experimental treatment for rheumatoid arthritis because of its anti-inflammatory properties. It is still considered an experimental drug and not yet approved for medical use in any other conditions. However, further research into CBG-A may prove that it can be a viable treatment for many common ailments, such as Chron’s disease, fibromyalgia, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis because of its anti-inflammatory properties.

1. Metabolic Disorders

According to current research, the chemical compound CBG-A has the potential to regulate metabolism. CBG-A stimulates receptors that regulate metabolism and help to prevent chronic metabolic diseases like diabetes. The study was carried out in a machine-simulated model, and additional research in a clinical setting would be required to validate these findings.

2. Diabetes

As per current data, CBG-A aids in the reduction of oxidative stress, which leads to diabetic complications and even death in diabetics. Off-target effects of CBG-A include PPAR activation. Furthermore, CBG/CBGA-rich Cannabis sativa fractions inhibit the aldose reductase enzyme.

While CBGA’s therapeutic uses are less well understood than those of the other minor cannabinoids, it may play a role in diabetes mellitus control and preventing the cardiovascular complications that can accompany Type 2 diabetes.

3. Cardiovascular disease

In an in vitro model, a recent study of CBG-A (a chemical compound found in cannabis) to treat cardiovascular disease showed promise. This study found that CBG-A reduces oxidative stress, which is linked to the development of cardiovascular disease. The findings of this study lay the groundwork for future research into the potential therapeutic applications of CBG-A.

4. Colon and Cbga cancer

Though cancer remains a deadly disease, a cure has yet to be found. However, research studies have shown that a compound called CBG-A is showing potential in blocking colon cancer. CBGA has also been linked to preventing the formation of polyps, which are often precursors to colon cancer.

5. Inflammatory Bowel disease

A 2013 study suggests that CBG-A may be helpful in relieving the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Researchers treated mice suffering from colitis with CBG-A and saw that the compound lowered the production of nitric oxide. CBG-A also reduced oxidizing agents in the small intestine. The researchers conclude CBG-A could be beneficial in relieving IBS symptoms in a mouse model.

What Is The Best Way to Consume CBGA?

The better way to consume CBG-A and benefit from its therapeutic properties is to consume the marijuana in its raw form. Exposing it to high temperatures causes the process of decarboxylation. It is necessary to consume the marijuana in its raw state to prevent breaking down the CBGA into CBDA, THCA, or CBG.

Is CBGA for Sale?

The short answer is yes, CBG-A is for sale. But depending on your location, however. You could actually buy CBGA right now. There are a bunch of products on the web to choose from, including:

What is CBDA (Cannabidiolic acid)?

CBDA is one of many compounds produced by marijuana and hemp. It is abundant in the live plants of CBD strains and converts to CBD over time and when exposed to heat. Cannabinoids in cannabis interact with our bodies to produce medical and recreational effects, from pain and stress relief to euphoria.

Cannabidiolic acid is the raw form or precursor to cannabidiol (CBD) and converts to CBD when decarboxylated. Cannabidiolic acid is typically found in capsules, tinctures, and tropicals. Many people even juice raw cannabis for a daily dose of cannabidiolic acid.

The Role Of CBDA In Preventing Cancer And Other Diseases

CBDA or Cannabidiolic Acid is a cannabinoid that doesn’t bind directly with the CB1 or CB2 receptors. Instead of binding, CBDA interacts with the endocannabinoid system by inhibiting the COX-2 enzymes. COX-2 enzymes are associated with inflammation after an injury or infection, so by blocking them, CBDA can relieve inflammation and associated pain.

In one rodent study, researchers discovered that CBDA affected serotonin levels. Serotonin is required for basic human functions such as sleeping, eating, motor skills, digestion, and emotion.

Researchers have determined that CBDA can affect serotonin-producing receptors, implying that CBD could be used as a medication to treat chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) and other conditions. More research, however, is required.

Is CBDA Safe to Use?

Prescription cannabidiol (CBD) oil is thought to be an effective seizure medication. More research is needed, however, to evaluate CBD’s other benefits and safety. CBD is a substance found in marijuana that lacks tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana. CBD oil is the most common CBD formulation, but it is also available as an extract, a vaporized liquid, and an oil-based capsule. The CBD-infused products include food, drinks, and beauty products and are all available to buy online.

Presently, just one CBD product authorized by the Food and Drug Administration is Epidiolex, a prescription oil. It is indicated for the treatment of two types of seizures. Excluding Epidiolex, state laws on CBD use differ.

Is CBDA Legal?

As per Governing magazine, CBDA oil is legal in 30 states where medicinal and/or recreational marijuana is legal.

According to Prevention magazine, seventeen more states have CBD-specific laws on the books. Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming are among the states.

Medical Use of CBDA

Studies have shown that a cannabinoid called CBDA methyl ester has decreased pain sensitivity in humans. This synthetic cannabinoid Called HU-580 has also been studied for its ability to improve sleep. It should be noted that another cannabinoid, known as unmodified CBDA, has also been investigated for its pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects.

CBDA contains anti-inflammatory properties that can help with joint pain, arthritis, and autoimmune disorders. It has been shown to help with a wide range of medical conditions, including:

1. Epilepsy

GW Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of the CBD-derived epilepsy drug Epidiolex, is investigating the potential of another cannabinoid called CBDA. As with their exploration of CBD, they’re investigating whether the two might work together best to treat epilepsy. They also believe that CBDA may work faster than CBD while providing longer-lasting effects.

2. Depression

Research studies show that CBDA not only affects the same receptors as CBD but also that it works as an antidepressant at doses 10 to 100 times less than the ones required of CBD.

3. Breast Cancer

Cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) has anti-cancer properties. Cannabinoids have been used in a variety of therapeutic applications for centuries. In the case of cancer, cannabinoids have already been approved in several countries for the remedy of chemo and radiation side effects, but their clinical potency is greater than previously thought, and clinical interest has increased in recent years.

Active ingredients have been shown in pre-clinical studies to have important antitumor properties in the main breast cancer subtypes, particularly TNBC, where different phytocannabinoids and synthetic cannabinoids have shown impressive therapeutic effects. Although research is ongoing, scientists have been able to find out some very interesting stuff about it.

What does it do in relation to cancer cells?

Well, researchers have found that this acid inhibits the growth of an aggressive form of breast cancer. Current studies have been published in the latest journal to support the claim that Cannabinoids have been used to treat and manage a variety of diseases and conditions, such as pain, asthma, sleep disorders, insomnia, cramps, migraine, limb muscle spasms, depression, and emesis. Over the last two decades, extensive research has been conducted to assess the clinical and pharmacological potential of cannabinoids, either alone or in combination, for the treatment of various pathological conditions.

More research is needed, primarily on HER2+, luminal A, and luminal B breast tumors, to better understand the mechanism of action of these compounds, which will help to clarify the therapeutic potential in breast cancer subtypes and even other cancer types. However, in the case of luminal A breast cancer, some studies have found that cannabinoids modulate key targets responsible for the survival and progression of this breast cancer subtype, which is also targeted by the therapies currently in clinical trials.

What does this mean?

It means the CBDA works by targeting a specific enzyme (COX-2) which plays a role in the growth and proliferation of cancer cells.

Besides preventing growth, one study found that cannabidiolic acid can prevent breast cancer cells from migrating, meaning that it limits the disease’s opportunity to metastasize to other parts of the body.

Researchers made a connection between CBDA as a COX-2 inhibitor and its breast cancer-fighting ability, but this connection must be explored further before CBDA can be used as an effective weapon against breast cancer.

4. Anti-inflammatory

CBDA has properties that make it not only a cancer fighter but also an anti-inflammatory. This is good news for anyone who uses non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen or aspirin to relieve pain.

A research team from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem tested CBDA against CBG and found that it stopped the COX-2 enzyme even better than THC did.

5. Nausea

If you suffer from nausea, CBD and CBDA may be helpful. Research shows that the same receptors in your brain that regulate anxiety and well-being also control feelings of nausea. For choosing CBD or CBDA for relieving nausea, CBDA is actually more effective.

What Is The Best Way to Consume CBDA?

While scientists are still investigating cannabis’ potential medical benefits, some health-conscious people have turned to their own kitchens hoping to experience CBDA’s benefits.

The best way to experience CBDA is by using raw cannabis leaves and flowers from a young, unprocessed cannabis plant. It can be infused into topical treatments like balms or creams, or ingested orally.

Consuming fresh, uncured marijuana leaves or flowers is an option for those who may grow and harvest their own plants. Leaves or flowers can be stored in your refrigerator like every vegetable alongside lettuces and other vegetables.

Is CBDA for Sale?

The short answer is yes. You can purchase in many online shops. There are multiple companies that sell it, in any format, such:

  • CBDA oil
  • CBDA isolate
